Meet Katie Bennett, LPCC, NCC, M.Ed

Professional Mental Health Clinician
& Nationally Certified Counselor

My journey into counseling:

After nearly a decade in the high-stress world of management consulting, I became well-acquainted with anxiety, burnout, and perfectionism. Despite finding success, I was constantly exhausted and struggling to find balance. Healing from that chapter required significant effort, but it was deeply rewarding to reconnect with myself. Inspired by my journey, I earned a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the College of William & Mary and founded Rivercrest Wellness to help others overcome similar challenges.

My professional experience as a therapist:

My counseling career began with crisis intervention at Crisis Text Line , supporting individuals facing self-harm and emotional distress. I later worked in an addiction recovery center, facilitating group therapy and providing individual support in an intensive outpatient program. That experience solidified my passion for counseling.

Transitioning to private practice allowed me to broaden my expertise, treating anxiety, depression, anger management, relationship issues and eating disorders from a diverse theoretical application. . Most recently, I joined a team specializing in peak performance, helping executives, athletes, and high-achievers unlock their full potential.

My mindset and clinical style:

I take a eclectic, person-centered counseling approach., blending techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, Gottman-based methods, and somatic processing. Mindfulness and humor are also central to my practice. My goal is to create a collaborative space where clients from all walks of life can thrive.

We enjoy taking in everything Colorado has to offer - whether it’s kayaking, camping, finding the best place to peep the fall colors or checking out a new brewery downtown.

I love almost all kinds of cheese and the occasional Sprecher’s root beer. I am an avid reader, intermediate pianist, aspiring painter and enthusiastic yogi.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • You deserve support (and joy!), and you don’t have to go through life’s struggles alone. Constant negative thoughts and relationship patterns can trick us into that nothing has ever helped and nothing will. Together, we can pinpoint where you want to grow, and what’s been getting in your way. If you’re sick of feeling constantly exhausted, distracted, drained, numb, empty, restless, or irritable, therapy can help.

  • Our current rate for individual adult or teen counseling is $170. Our current rate for couples counseling is $220. We are also proud to be part of the Open Path Collective. Sliding scales are available for those who qualify.

  • We do not directly bill insurance companies for services at this time. If you need help finding an in-network therapist, I would be happy to help!

  • We accept all major credit cards as well as FHA and HSA cards. We process payment electronically after each session through our secure client portal.

  • This varies greatly from client to client. Our belief is that establishing a therapeutic relationship takes time and that slowing down is an important aspect of making space for new perspectives and change. We believe clients should only attend therapy for as long as they find it helpful. You attend as many sessions as you like without any obligation to continue.

  • We get it - life happens! The first time you miss or cancel an appointment within 24 hours, there is no charge. If it happens again, it is our policy to charge the full appointment fee. If you notify us about cancelling or rescheduling an appointment with more than 24 hours notice, we would be glad to accommodate you.

  • We only provide services to residents of Colorado in compliance with our professional licensure.
